Whizards Baby Doll

Roxy’s Story

Roxy is registered with the American Quarter Horse Association as Whizards Baby Doll. She is by Whizard Jac out of a daughter of Gunners Rambo (who is by Hollywood Smoke, who is by Mr. Gunsmoke). I actually trained Roxy’s mother while I was in college and strangely enough, worked for Mike Flarida while he was training Whizard Jac. Roxy was sent here to be started under saddle as a two year old, although I had seen her when she was first born as well as while she was growing because we knew her owner. I was the first one to ride her and I trained her during her two year old year. Roxy was here in training for a couple of months when the owners told us that they were interested in selling her. Jesse and I wanted to buy her but we didn’t have the money. Jesse remembered that one of our customers who rode with us had told Jesse that if we ever came across a nice horse that we thought he should invest in then he would be interested. Jesse called Greg and as they say…the rest is history. Jesse trained her during her three year old year and rode her to the Reserve Championship at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress Reining Futurity LTD Open Division. I began showing her at the beginning of her four year old year. Roxy is the highest money earning offspring of Whizard Jac who was the NRHA futurity champion and USET champion. Roxy has won two All-American Quarter Horse Congress Championships and two reserve championships, the NRHA Futurity freestyle championship, Tulsa Reining Classic two time Champion, and the list goes on. She has won multiple bronze trophies (Morrison and Lawson’s) in both regular reining classes as well a Freestyle reining. She is currently the only horse ridden bareback and bridleless at competition level.

Most people are surprised, and almost upset at times, to learn that I do not own Roxy. Greg is great guy and he believed in us early on. He has been great to work with. He  has turned down a lot of money for Roxy so we can all enjoy having her around as well as raising her offspring.

Other interesting things Roxy has done include: she has made appearances from Truro, Nova Scotia all the way to Burbank, California, has been ridden in the Atlantic Ocean, went to church-AND IN to church-on Easter Sunday, and has been ridden by Ellen DeGeneres on her TV show.

Roxy is a working mom and her first foal was born April 13th, 2008 at about 10 pm. Roxy was bred to Smart Spook (Smart Chic Olena X Own daughter of Greys Starlight) and the embryo was flushed and put into another mare, Millie. I heard that Roxy and Millie agreed to name the new filly, Chloe.
